Christ
The Advent season holds beautiful promises for the followers of Christ.
First, we celebrate Christ’s fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Many prophets spoke of the Messiah to come, one who would bring hope and peace to God’s people. Jesus fulfilled numerous prophecies from Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah, and others. He ushered in a new covenant between God and His people, one we currently enjoy. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection have removed the sin that separates the Believer from God the Father. We now have the Holy Spirit living inside us, refining us into who God truly desires us to be.
Second, Advent is a time we anticipate Christ’s second coming. Prophecies throughout the Bible speak of “the day of the Lord,” a time when God will make all things new. One day, sin will be destroyed, and our adversary will be defeated. Death will be no more. Our bodies will be glorified, and we will live in paradise with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God’s promises will be fully realized, and we will live forever in His light.
Christ is the embodiment of new beginnings, for us personally and for all of Creation. We are being made into His image through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He renews our strength and gives us a living hope. We can hold to the promise of Christ’s eternal reign—one day, all this sin and darkness will end, and we will experience full redemption.
Our hearts have much to rejoice over this holiday season. No matter how dark your circumstances seem, cling to the promise of hope Christ gives. Let His joy and peace fill you, and may you allow His love to flow through you to the world around you.
