God the Father is, of course, God. He is listed first in the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), is equal with the Son and the Holy Spirit, and interacts with us in unique ways. Throughout the Bible, He has the role of choosing, directing, and sending to accomplish His perfect will. But what about on a personal level—why is He called “Father?” What makes Him different from an earthly father? What is He like? And can we trust Him to be a Father to us?
First, it is important to know that God the Father is better than any earthly father; He wants a relationship with us, desires to take care of us, and always has our best interests in mind because we are His children. He has gone to great lengths (making creation and sending Jesus to die) just to care for us and show us His love for us.
Second, God is spirit and invisible (Jn. 4:24; 1 Tim. 6:16), and thankfully we can still know what our Father is like even though we can’t see Him face to face. We get to know Him through creation, Jesus, and the Bible. The Scriptures tell us that God the Father is omniscient, which is a fancy way of saying that He knows everything. He knows everything that is going on in your life and everything that is possible. God knows you down to the finest detail—even the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7; Ps. 139). He is also wise, which means He has the best goals and knows the best way to bring about the best results for you (Rom. 11:33; 16:27). And He is loving—He loves you! “…God will rejoice over you” (Isa. 62:5).
Finally, just as a child is dependent on earthly parents for his/her physical needs, we are dependent on God the Father for our physical and spiritual needs. Yet, unlike an earthly father, God the Father never fails and is trustworthy (Num. 23:19; 1 Cor. 1:9). We can cast all our worries on Him because He cares for us (1 Pt. 5:7). And any time we worry, we can bring those fears and concerns to Him and know He’s got it covered (Phil. 4:6–7).
God is your heavenly, all-knowing, trustworthy Father who desires to care for you. He loves you, knows everything about you, and has the best plan for you. Feel confident that God the Father is God and is the best father you could ever imagine. He is worthy of your love and your trust.

I love this!! I use to struggle with The Father part because I had 2 earthly fathers that didn’t want me. To be able to see Him now as Father and truly know that’s what He is has been the biggest blessing in my life. His Love is so pure. It’s like a glass lake that never ripples. No matter what I do it always stays the same. Perfectly Pure.
Amen. Thank you for this wonderful reminder!
