First Samuel is a fascinating book of the Bible found in the Old Testament detailing the beginning of the reign of kings in Israel. In this book, we read about the lives of important people in Israel’s history: the prophet and judge Samuel, the first king of Israel named Saul, and the mighty King David. King David is significant to our faith because of the promise God made to him that the Messiah would come through his lineage. Throughout this sermon series, we will see how God interacts with his people and blesses this nation as it grows into a mighty Kingdom. We see successes and failures that are relatable to us today as we learn how to honor and obey God in a world full of distraction and self-absorption.
