Advent Service | Tullahoma
Our Advent services are a celebration of the season known on the formal church calendar as “Advent.” This season runs from the first Sunday after Thanksgiving to Christmas Day. Advent means “arrival,” and in this season, we celebrate the first arrival of Jesus as a baby in Bethlehem and the second arrival of Jesus coming back in all His glory.
During these services, we light the four candles of Advent: hope, joy, peace, and love. (In traditional churches, these candles are lit every Sunday.) These candles represent the hope, joy, peace, and love that Jesus brings into the world. The final candle to be lit is the candle of Christ, which is the symbol for the light Jesus brings into the world. These services and candle-lighting observances are a wonderful way to refocus our attention on why we celebrate Christmas: Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has come to save us and will come again soon!
