Acts | Murfreesboro North

The Acts of the Apostles, also known simply as Acts, is the fifth book of the New Testament. As indicated by the title, there is an emphasis on action in this book. Each chapter moves from one story to the next, chronicling the earliest days of the Church and how the gospel moved from Jerusalem into the rest of the world. Because of its emphasis on the Holy Spirit, some scholars have argued that it should be called the Acts of the Holy Spirit instead. Luke, the author, makes it clear that while the apostles did great things, it was the power of the Spirit that enabled them to spread the good news and still works in us to continue in that same gospel-sharing work.
