Read Revelation 22:6–21
With the climax of the book behind us, John finishes it out with application and closing remarks. He looks back over all his visions and messages and essentially says, “Here’s the main point. In light of everything I have said, here is what I hope you’ll do with it.” And so we will do the same with our final devotional here. What do we hope you have gotten out of these last 40 days?
First, we hope you have a new or renewed anticipation for the return of Christ. On that day, all things will be made new. Sin and death will be no more, and we will be able to see God face to face. All Christ followers should ultimately have their hope in that final restoration, and hopefully Revelation has helped you see that more clearly.
Second, we hope you have seen that Revelation is not just about future events but is a call to live faithfully today. The anticipation we feel for Christ’s return should compel us to steward the remaining time well, rather than succumb to apathy “since it’s all burning anyway.” So, let the hope you have for tomorrow compel you
toward a greater love of God and people today.
Finally, we hope that by working through one of the most challenging texts in the New Testament, you feel
encouraged that you really can read and understand the whole Bible. If there are other books you have been
intimidated by, pick up your Bible and try them! God’s Word was meant to be read and understood, so read it
and pray for understanding.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
