EON

About Middle School Ministry

In a culture where everything happens so fast, it’s hard for us to think about eternity. Our middle school students are facing a very complicated culture filling their minds with false wisdom and lots of confusion. An EON is “an indefinite and very long period of time.” We chose that name because we strive to meet students in a difficult phase and promote an eternal identity; their identity in Christ. We hope to teach true wisdom and provide clarity in the confusion.

A typical EON service starts with a time of fellowship and games with the students and leaders, followed by worship and a Bible lesson. Most of the time is spent in small groups arranged by grade and gender to further discuss the lesson and develop community. The students discuss questions or issues they are facing and pray for each other. We hope to create an environment where students feel connected to other Believers as this isn’t always the case in school or sports.

Middle school can be a difficult time, but it is our hope and prayer that EON can be a safe place to find truth and answers. We care about these students and strive to come alongside them and their families to guide them into who God has designed them to be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on what campus you attend, we have several ways for your middle schooler to get involved with EON.

All of our campuses meet during all weekend service times.

Murfreesboro has additional service times on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm in the ECCO Wing.

If you are attending Tullahoma or Cannon County, EON joins Encounter on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm (see Encounter’s page).

Shelbyville – Weeknight EON Coming Soon

EON is for middle schoolers in grades 6th–8th.

Once a year, we have a Level Up weekend where all 5th graders will move up to EON together.  The same goes for the transition for 8th graders when they move from EON to Encounter, our high school ministry.

During weekend services, we use the Gospel Project curriculum. Our EON leaders will prepare a teaching based on that curriculum.

At the Murfreesboro campus, on Wednesdays, we teach expositorily through books of the Bible. We do the same at our Cannon County and Tullahoma campuses on Wednesday nights with Encounter (which includes both middle and high schoolers).

Current Series

Weekend services:
We are working through The Gospel Project: Students Version to unify with ECCO.

Wednesdays:
The Gospel of Mark is the shortest, and most likely the earliest, account of Jesus’s earthly ministry. Believed to be told from the apostle Peter’s perspective, Mark’s gospel is a fast-paced retelling of various teachings and miracles Jesus’s disciples witnessed while following him. Mark’s gospel is straightforward and easy to understand, perfect for anyone wanting to encounter Jesus.
