Every Sunday morning our 5000 ministry provides breakfast to those in need at Patterson Park. 5000 is relationship-based and focuses on building trust as well as relationships that are intentional with those in need throughout our community. Sunday morning breakfasts are from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
We believe Jesus called us as his followers to clothe, feed, & care for those who are in need. We also strongly believe that it is our duty as the local church to address the issues of poverty facing us in our own community. For us, that means showing compassion and building relationships with the homeless and low-income community in Murfreesboro. Every Sunday morning volunteers from our 5000 ministry prepare and feeds breakfast to those in need at a local park. Those involved in the ministry also build and foster relationships with individuals in poverty throughout the week. Volunteering with this ministry requires a lifestyle committed to integrity, sensitivity, dependability, and responsibility (we require all volunteers to be on time, follow directions for the purpose of safety, and to commit to serving for a set time).
Volunteers meet in the Gennaro Room at the church at 8:00 am. We have an hour of group time where we go through books, devotionals, and have a time of prayer. At 9:00 am we all go to Patterson Park to serve our homeless friends. At the park, you will do anything from serving food, helping set up, and talking with people, bible study, pray for the homeless, and there is even a children's ministry! The key to this whole ministry is truly investing in the homeless on the weekends as well as throughout the week once that relationship has been built.
